One of Sotto il Sole's co-founders stumbled across her love of handmade shoes from an old Italian craftsman. With each pair of shoes she made, she fell more in love with the art of the trade, and the unique style and stories of everyone who wore the shoes.

Our Italian leather is sourced from a small family tannery in Naples, Italy. We pride ourselves in offering fair prices, fair wages, transparency in our operations, and we stand behind every stitch of our shoes.

The original leather Capri sandal was made by hand for the people that roamed the island’s cobbled passages and paths. Sotto il Sole has a vision of delivering the quality of this Italian technique to new streets for a new generation.
We design each of our sandals from our studio in New York and work exclusively with a small, family-run leather tannery in Italy to produce something that is both beautiful and affordable.
At Sotto il Sole, we believe that mass-produced footwear is unsustainable, uninspiring, and unable to withstand long days of walking and long nights of dancing. That’s why we create every pair of our leather sandals to order, custom-made and crafted especially for your feet.
